An East Coast upbringing to a West Coast life, Justin Lamoureux has a diverse snowboard background. He is a former Olympian having competed in the 2006 and 2010 games, placing 7th in the pipe in the 10′ games – a Canadian record. He is the founder of Spline Snowboards, owner of many first descents, a true powder hound, avid splitboarder, dad, engineer, and a splitboard & heli guide. Above all, Justin loves riding and sharing days with his family and friends.

How long have you been guiding?
Ten years.
Who has most influenced you as a guide and how?
Becoming a guide requires influence from many people. As a snowboarder, first up is Scott Newsome. I've known the old goat for quite a while and he's the first person to pass the ACMG on a splitboard. When I started thinking of becoming a guide, I called Scott and he directly laid out the path I should follow. He also hired me at Eagle Pass to come and learn from him and his crew.
Lars Andrews, Ross Berg, and Don Schwartz would be 3 other people that have hugely influenced my path by taking me under their wing, teaching, hiring, and heckling me. Overall, there has been a huge number of people that helped along the road.
What certifications do you have?
Association of Canadian mountain guides (ACMG) splitboard guide, Canadian Ski Guides Association (CSGA) level 2 guide, and a member of the Canadian Avalanche Association.
What are you most excited about for the 24/25 season?
Why ride Spark R&D gear?
I'm looking for a binding that rides really well, they're bomber, light and they work in the backcountry. Spark bindings hit all the marks. The transitions are super fast and rarely get clogged in coastal snow. I've been riding them for years and they keep getting better every year.
